Application Guidelines

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 31 October 2021 (extended)

The Contemporary Art Music Project (CAMP) will host its inaugural CAMPGround festival from 24–26 March in the vibrant downtown areas of Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida. CAMP seeks instrumentalists who will perform selected compositions and collaborate with 2022 CAMP performing artists and invited composers. Our featured performers in 2022 include Arda Cabaoglu, Melody Chua, Zachary Hale, Jamie Jordan, Eunmi Ko, Robert McCormick and the McCormick Percussion Group, Doug O’Connor, Carol Tsai, Sini Virtanen, and Katherine Weintraub.

Premiering Opportunity

  • In celebration of our very first CAMPGround festival, CAMP is offering a special opportunity to premiere a new work commissioned by a living composer.
  • The three top-scoring composers from the adjudication process will be invited to compose a new piece, to be recorded by CAMP performing artists.
  • Selected pieces will be included on a new digital album (to be released by Neuma Records).
  • Performers for these pieces will be drawn from CAMPGround22 performing artists, including those selected through this call.

Participant Eligibility

  • This call is open to all performers regardless of age, gender, or nationality. Those belonging to disadvantaged or underrepresented ethnic groups are especially encouraged to apply.
  • There is no fee to apply.
  • Each performer selected will receive a stipend to help cover expenses.
  • The Contemporary Art Music Project is not responsible for providing or reimbursing any travel or lodging expenses for selected participants past the offered stipend. Official letters of invitation will be provided upon request to help secure funding from grants or institutions that a participant may be affiliated with.

Application Guidelines

  • Applications will only be accepted online. No applications utilizing physical media will be accepted.
  • Applicants must submit a total of two (2) recordings.
    • Please include one recording of an ensemble performance.
    • One of the recordings MUST be of a work by a living composer.
  • Recordings must be uploaded to an online file sharing service (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) or streaming platform (Soundcloud, YouTube, vimeo, etc.) and remain accessible until November 30, 2021. The use of file transfer services like WeTransfer is prohibited.
  • Applications must include a brief biography of the performer. (150 word maximum)
  • If selected, the performer MUST be fully committed to attend all rehearsals and performances.
  • ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY 11:59pm EST (UTC-5), 31 OCTOBER 2021. (Extended from the previous deadline of the 15th)
